I need to remove a door to install a skylight in its place, as we are going to own cabinets and counter tops along the wall.
Should I rip the total old door conserve out and frame a new porthole in ? or merely retro fit the door frame for a window ?
I enjoy time to do either and be wonder what the more common road to do it.
Thanks for any advice !!
Answers:    if your cabinet are going where the door be, then yes, you entail to remove whole frame/jamb, reframe for the glass and then donate drywall where needed. sort sure your window is atleast 40" past its sell-by date the floor if cabinets are going beneath it. This allows for typical 34" base cabinet, and 4" - 6" for countertop and backsplash. You might entail to go better if your window have a jamb and any kind of stool or if its wrapped contained by casing/trim.
I ripped out the whole door jamm..but i'm not sure if it's the best road..
