Answers:    No real offense, but inches aren't divisible by 1/3rds within the strict sense, and even the calculation would create a fraction so small, it might never be accurate, within each cut.

I guess I'm most curious and again no offense, but wasn't division covered surrounded by school, at least possible by the 8th grade?

If you enjoy a yard stick, or cassette, lay it out and start from both ends of 30 & 3/4, marking the 4 and approx 3/8, minus a fraction, afterwards assume the thickness of every cut queue. At some point you will reach the mid point, and alter your thought.
