Painting on interior mobile home paneling? Does anybody know if Behr's texture paint will work on interior wall...
Does anybody know if Behr's texture paint will work on interior wall paneling in an elder mobile home. The wall is a weird incised/embossed cut-out, and I know regular paint won't work on it. Do I need to primer or prep the surface within any way?
I would try a small area first similar to behind a sofa or piece of furniture and see how it works out.
We painted white over regular fine art without using Kilz first (which we be told to do) and it worked out fine, and has be up quite a few years in a minute Having to wallpaper first is a lot of trouble you may not hold to go thorough.
When we covered the paneling surrounded by our basement, we used textured wallpaper. It is thicker than standard wallpaper and (obviously) textured. Once that be up, we painted over it with standard latex paint.
You can find it at any home restoration store.
Answers: No, it won't work.
1. thoroughly verbs the surface, using a solution of TSP (trisodium phosphate) (follow package instructions)
2. prime the surface using a hiqh characteristic primer designed for surface. (note that most primers can be tinted to a shade similar to the topcoat)
3. then you can paint
Without the surface preparation (cleaning and priming) any paint is potential to fail.
