Painting terracotta plates? Hey I want to do something special for my mom this christmas,...

Hey I want to do something special for my mom this christmas, and paint a plate for her. I did this last year, but the acrylic paints I used don't blend fundamentally well. So what paints can you use on earthenware plates that have not already be glazed? Is it better to paint on a glazed plate, and then re-glaze it? Help!
Answers:    Painting Ceramic materials is not similar to painting houses using unexciting latex or acrylic paints. What you need is a specialized paint to be baked contained by ovens to make the paint fit tightly. Check your local paint manufacturer for details or try this http://www.benjaminmoorepaints.com
theres a paint you can use for stoneware objects. if the ceramics is already glazed it's hard to paint it again. perchance you can try flat latex paint . do it with not so dilluted paint your ceramics after spray it clear varnish to protect your design .
