I built a workbench base out of oak 2x2's. The top is 2" of MDF. Is the basis strong enough to be a fully clad woodworking/handyman bench. Is it strong enough to mount a 70 lb. vise to?
Its sounds pretty stout to me but it depends on how capably your legs are braced. If that's a problem plywood triangles are pretty hard to pulsate screwed and glued as bracing. worthy luck

No. You have need of to make a 2 x 4 frame for one sheet of mdf for the top and 2 x 4's for the legs later put 2x 4's 12" up from the floor and go adjectives the way around the legs. This should hold slightly a bit of weight. By the process the top frame should be like a wall 16" O.C. (on center)

Good Luck

Answers:    Not adequate information, it all depends on how very well it is braced.

To test the bench you could sit on the corner and rock rear and forth. If the bench moves at all forget it. Oh by the track if the bench is not built well you could wrapping up up on the ground and get hurt.
