Have a huge framed mirror but don't like the frame, shady and ugly. Don't want to reframe it, but excluding just drawing it, any suggestions how to spruce it up. It's just a flat piece of wood, 3" cavernous, so can glue to it. Going to be within entrance of home so would like it to be eye catching when guests enter. Know in that are crafty people out at hand, so please help! All concept appreciated!
Answers:    If you desire to paint and want a fancier look, I would go to your local Big Box store (Home Depot, Lowe's) or a local lumberyard millwork store and look for attractive wood moldings. They may have scroll work on it, or dentil block trim, etc. These can be wood glue on, then paint the mirror after you own glued the trim on. This will tender a fancier look for the entrance way and is an effortless low cost solution for a dark & monstrous frame. If you are really ambitious, strip the old surface, paste on the moldings, then stain it a color of your choice. Stain can bring out the good looks of wood (assuming you have a nice wood framework).
i hold a big mirror myself and started to hang stuff on it close to boas or key chains and things similar to that. u can also put pictures around the mirror w/ tape. be creative and suppose out of the box. pictures momentos souvieners and anything that might cover up the ugliness of the snake of the mirror. get together things and put some of your fav. music on and start decorate!
