It is 7 years old and very rash this spring, we woke up to the sound of it running but no water be escaping because the line was blocked next to ice. We had to unplug it to procure it to stop trying to pump, clear the ice, and plug it back within. We have no idea how long it run that night before we woke up, but ever since consequently it sounds absolutely terrible...amazingly loud...and so I am afraid it will fail but I really don't know if this is something the average homeowner can do (I have a remarkably handy husband) or if I need to call a professional.
