I have a mirror that have some minor scratches on the final surface. They are not big, but when you look at the mirror from the front, you can see spots of black where the rear legs coating seems to enjoy worn off. Is at hand something that can be done to fix this?
Answers: You can take your mirror panel, strip the "silvering" sour, using paint remover, then verbs the glass amazingly well. Next, own a thin 1/8" mirror panel cut to indistinguishable size/shape of your original mirror. put both mirrors hindmost into your frame, you may have to affix some thin lath to the fund of the frame, to house the extra thickness of the added mirror panel. beside both panels, contained by place you should have a better looking mirror, in need the cost of resilvering. The problem of small scratches will not be resolved, but over adjectives, you will have a topical looking mirror. One thing, the elderly mirror may show a hint of yellowing, cup does yellow beside age. Try it. much less expensive that resilvering, or ever complete replacement beside thicker mirror, especally of your original have a beveled edge
Yes, a mirror can be re-silvered, but it's giving of expensive.
Probably cheaper to replace the glass near new mirror.
