Painstaking, but i've used an iron. seriously. if you warm up the cement well plenty, it'll loosen and you can scrape it rotten. I've tried to scrape it near the pole scrapey thingy and that is exhausting.
If you enjoy two irons working, you can multitask and it'll go sensibly fast.
