I feel stupid for asking this request for information But I don't have a measure tape at the moment, but I am looking online for a hole punch and I stipulation one that is 1/4 of an inch and I maintain finding ones that are 5/16" is that close? I hope I don't seem that dumb? Thanks for the relief :)

Answers:    1/4 = 4/16 so 5/16 are 1/16 more than 1/4

If you are looking for a punch to put a bolt through, 5/16 will work. It will in recent times be a bit sloppy. If it is for a rivet, no it isn't close enough. It depends on the application. For most applications, it is close ample.
