We are in the process of refinishing our underground room. The basement walls own been insulated and a vapor barier placed. When insulating the ceiling, do I entail KRAFT faced or NONE-KRAFT face batts (I assume the KRAFT FACE would face up if needed)? Also, do I requirement to insulate the floor? I was thinking of building a small sub-floor, insulate between joist, put down floor boards and then carpeting.

Thanks - Sean
Answers:    I agree beside Stan. You don't want overkill on this project, and waste time and money. Most populace don't insulate the ceiling of the basement because help out heat up the rest of the house contained by the winter and cool it off within the summer. And the floor is a waste of time and money surrounded by my opinion. I've never hear of anyone creating a sub-floor in the underground room, unless there is a serious hose down problem and you need to put on a pedestal the floor up, as well as install a sump pump. I would possibly put a layer of concrete paint/sealer on the floor, consequently, depending on if you get hose down there or not, choose the type of floor you want installed. NO wood if it get any water or moisture.
The facing on insulation is a vapor hurdle. You only have need of it when insulating between heated/cooled spaces and non living spaces. You should use unfaced in the ceiling assuming the nouns above is heated/cooled living space. This insulation will act as a nouns barrier.
People typically don't insulate floors...the carpet lagging will do the job.
