I have simply built a new wall surrounded by my bedroom on a exzixting wall to stop the sound of my boisterous neighbours, I have used 8 battons and polystryne sheets inside near a layer of 15mm auditory platerboard on top i have gone a air breach of about 10mm between the plasterboard and the polystrene , Unfortuanterly this have not made much difference to the noise ,I hold been looking on the web and need proposal would it be better to fill the 10mm break with something so near is no air cavity , I have read drysand is upright , is this true ?? is there anything else i can put within there to cut back on the sound coming through the wall ??
Answers: Use Rockwool filler. You are conversation about an compensate stud partition wall - mine eliminate 100 % of sound from neighbours. But nouns 'leaks' from above and below - I instaled a floating floor as well and I own no one above me..
I used 25mm polystyrene sheets, covered near 15mm plaster board to keep the hubbub IN my workshop. I can have my music on full blast, and you cant hear a entry outside, so it would work inside for you.
