I'm a beginner....I hold 3 wires sticking out of the cieling. One white, black and one copper. I am installing a light/chandelier that has 3 wires as economically. The light's power cord is white. Which cord hooks up to the black and which to the white? And where does the copper chain go? Does this hook up to the 3rd line on the chandelier?? I know I have to put flex nuts on, but I don't know which cord goes where on earth....
Answers: I think you are maxim the fixture wires are clear rather than black and white. Is that correct? Sometimes in attendance is an identifier strip or different colored conductors inside the clear insulation.
What you want is for the black ceiling wire to connect to the center tab of the bulb holder. It does issue, unlike what the untrained guy told you. The white from the ceiling will connect to the shell part of the bulb holder. The showing (ground) from the ceiling can be connected to the metal of the fixture if there is no ground telecommunication on the fixture.
