I'm using 16 mill tubing. If i use a thinner tube will it drain better?
So far its just innards the tube. I check half agency tru and there is sea going thru, but when it climbs back up it loses power and stops draining. Instead of replacing the pump w a stinger one, will thinner tube do the trick?
Answers: You will probably find somewhat more head, but most potential not enough to drain your pond. And that smaller hose will achieve clogged up with driftwood. You might be better off to try to siphon the sea out.
I use a 3500 gph pump to drain ponds. Anything smaller than 1200 gph is pretty useless.
I agree with Pondlady, the pump is probably solely suitable to use for a small fountain and therefore hasn't get the power to pump the water up contained by height (head) plenty as the level of the pond go down. If you syphon it then it will drain slowly, but it will do it as long as the outlet of the tube is at impossible to tell apart level of the pond or below to completely vacant it, a standard garden hose can be used for that. A smaller tube will however clog up too easily and may put your pump beneath undue stress. Finally it all depends on the size of the pond, but possibly the old fashioned instrument of bailing out with a bucket may enjoy to do, again it's not the best solution or the quickest but it will get the river out.
