where do i put the 3" filler peice, the middle or the top? it seem the top would be better, having the double top plate to support such a light strip. it seems to me if placed contained by between the two sheaths, at 24" o/c, it would flex too much. what is the best method and why?
Answers:    You asked a similar question sooner, so I am curious about something. Is the floor system a slab or typical joist? If joists I'd articulate use 4x9 sheets, like I suggested past. That way you tie the floor system to the wall system. And resembling I said, hold the ring joist in, if still possible, that means of access you the whole structure is tied together. But if you already hold your sheets, I'd still put the scraps up top. The object is the sheathing increases the shear resistance. The part at top won't even be seen if you own any overhang from the rafters. The bottom border of the noseboard will be lower than the top edge of the 8' sheet. What ever you do, don't put the difference within the middle, especially at the corners. The strength to keep the wall from racking comes from the full sheet. If you cut sheets contained by half, you greatly shrink the capacity for the wall to resist shear forces, ie curl loads, against the perpendicular walls. Plus you are going to debris a bunch of time. Sometimes the easier method is the better answer.
