when I go to unscrew the bolts from the floor, the bolt and the screw both move. PLEASE HELP BEFORE I TAKE A HAMMER TO THIS TOILET.
when this happens my plumber takes a small hacksaw and cuts the bolt..u can acquire them at lowes..

The bolts that hold the toilet to the floor are inserted into a slot next to a wide part that the pave the way can fit into.

Answers: The small hacksaw works well. but if you're not going to liberate the old toilet, the hammer works suitable as well. just clear sure you get all the sea out of it.
if there's some threads still showing above the nut, you could try holding the bolt there as you loosen the nut. you could also try some penetrating grease, like PB Blaster (any automotive store)
the hacksaw will leave results on the old toilet. if that matters.
You could use the hammer if you're going to throw it away but it's harmful and makes a mess to clean up. The best way is to hold the bolt with a twosome of vise grips and saw the bolt off as close to the toilet as possible using a small hacksaw. Once you get a bit more than 1/2 way through the bolt you can usually bend the bolt back and forth and break it the rest of the path off.
Repeat these steps on the other one.
