Answers: how bad are your walls? if in attendance is major desecrate have them skimmed, it will recover you allot of time and aggro if its only bits here and within that need padding use a powdered filler tetrion is the best i wouldn't use ready mixed but that's me you can if you want, once you hold patched up your walls give them a sand to remove any imperfection then do a mist coat (watered down white emulsion) you do this for 2 reason 1 it will give you a appropriate base coat for your top coat and 2 any imperfection you have missed surrounded by your prep will show up allot better, you can rectify any you find and spot them over (paint) when this is done your ready to endow with your walls 2 top coats,
