The felt is tacky about 1/8 surrounded by. The shape causes pressure on my forhead and leaves a aperture on the sides.
Answers: I take it that if the hood was the right shape, it would fit fine. If so, you can indeed change the shape. They breed hat stretchers, but you can probably wing it lacking a "real" one.
Some clamps for carpentry can be reversed. Generally, clamps squeeze, but when reversed, they'll push outwards. Try to find someone beside a decent shop, and you should be capable of come up with one to borrow. Stick it within the hat and re-shape it by pushing the front and backbone apart. Some careful hose misting of the inside of the hat may back.
If you can't find a clamp like this, a moment ago cut a piece of wood (two by four would do) that is longer than the current front-to-back headdress measurement is, and conserve it in, departure it there for a while.
Unless you are handy near a sewing machine, it would be best to be in motion and talk to a tailor
