Answers:    Certainly Both HD and Lowes sell surface mount hardware for the purpose. I used to christen it Race Track.

Involved in specifically the strips of molding backing beside a cap to conceal the wire, receptacle boxes; reduced size receptacle and switches; Corner caps moldings; etc.

I've used them regularly, and if aesthetics aren't a serious issue they deliver the same service. They are sold within both White and Almond as well.
