Would like to vinyl side an '86 Park Haven aluminum RV. How to attach...sht metal screw???
Answers:    I'm assuming you have a "park model" stationary RV?

The problem beside sheet metal screws is that they don't allow for the expansion and contraction within the vinyl siding.

I'd recommend screwing (2 1/2 " drywall screw should do it) 1X2 firring strips to the exterior. Frame around all the opening, and the perimeter of adjectives the sides first. Don't forget that the outside corners will need TWO verticlal strips on respectively side. One for spacing of the corner molding, and one for the actual nailer flange.

Set the firring strips 16" apart vertically along the sides. Start at one point and work either to the departed or to the right. It's your call. Just remember which mode you went, so that when you move about to hang the vinyl siding of your choice, you'll if truth be told hit your new studs (just resembling ya planned it, right?!?)

It's important to go the vinyl slight loose. Check out this link for better "how to" on vinyl siding installation. http://www.askthebuilder.com/B167_Vinyl_...

I'd suggest fan-fold foam insulation be stapled up back your vinyl goes up. The extra insulation can be beneficial. Your climate and utility bills will help out you decide if this is needed.

Proper planning is knob to any DIY project. If this RV is ever going to go down the highway, expect the siding to be dog-eared. Conventional Home siding isn't designed for that kind of stress.

As other, Good luck with it.
ya, that will work, but what will hold it on when your driveing down the hwy style,
