Answers:    You can fit gromits but if generally looks a bit bad. What they customarily do is to use a thick dowel if you will to weigh the curtain down and to use to roll it around. You then attach ropes onto the dowel and run them over two pulleys on the top and tie them to the side wall. What you can also do is to put some gromits on the side and use something to protected it. For the rod or dowel you can get or make brackets near a half round lip to tuck the rod/dowel under and later pull the ropes tight so it doesn't swing around.
