Nate, first you requirement to make sure the very well pump does not exceed the wattage your generator produces.
Then it is as simple as wiring the pump to generator properly.
I would remove the plate around the recepticles(plug ins) on the generator and see how to remover the plugs,( could be concrete wired, could be screw terminals, could be rope nutted together. Basically you want to splice into the power wires going to the plugs with lead nuts and then you can use electrical cassette if you feel the inevitability. You sould make a small building(like an prehistoric dog house, to keep the generator and electrical system out of the weather exposure. you should use 12/2 romex for the wiring, it should shift from the generator to a small electric disconnect box, the kind near the insulated external arm switch.(or try the one on the lowes link)
This way you can power the generator up and afterwards turn the power on to the well, next simply go check for hose down pressure.

So, you bought a generator. I have to assume it is sized to touch a well pump.
The generator probably have a 110 volt and 220 volt outlet on it.
The well pump can be any of those voltages. To determine which, open the fuse or breaker box where on earth the wires from the submerged pump are connected to the box. See if there is one or two fuses or a single or double pole breaker. Read the size of the fuses or breaker, ie 15 or 20, ------- it,s probably 20. if in that is only one fuse or breaker, the pump is 110 volts and if it's two, the voltage is220.
Now that you own determined that, disconnect the wires from the input (line) side of the fuses or breakers and put a wire nut on the ends of respectively one, or tape respectively one so that no copper is exposed. You're going to have to reconnect them some time contained by the future. it is also a well brought-up idea to turn back to the leading service panel and turn off that breaker.
If the pump is 110 volts, cut the feminine end of a #12 rope extention cord and put the black lead to the fuse or breaker, and the white telecommunication to the ground bar terminal. If the extention cord have a green wire, ground that too. Plug the plug into the 110 volt outlet, fire up the generator and close the switch box or flip on the breaker. The pump should start running.
If the pump is 220, you stipulation to find an extention cord with a plug that match the 220 volt outlet on the generator.
