The sweater is "knit" although it is 100% cotton. It has a small hole. I imagine to fix it someone would have to "knit" some more to repair the hole. If I bring it to a tailor, would this be possible, and how much would it cost?
Answers: All it take if it is a small hole is a couple of quick stitches to close up the hole. I wouldn't pilfer it to anyone. Just sew it up with a nonpartisan colored thread and no-one will notice.
What you are asking is call french weaving, and it will, probably, cost more than the sweater. Sew it up.
