My first question be wrong.....I chiseled tiles off of a 4x4 nouns on a concrete slab. Under the tiles was mortar or thinset, how do I remove it? I am putting down a floating laminate wood floor next to padding attached and a vapor boundary marker. Or should I thinset it, or just put the floor down as it is?
Answers: use aself leveling compound
mix it up. pour it on the floor , spread it out ,
disappear it to dry , it will settle , level
dont play near it . let it be
Unless your mortar surface is extremely rough near would be no need to remove it if you are putting a floating floor over it. As far as putting down some thin-set...I wouldn't bother doing that any unless its unlevel. Mortar is very undemanding to remove because its soft and crumbles easy....you can use a floor sander near the roughest paper you can use on it. That will lug it down fast...so maintain the sander moving quickly.
