How much sand would I requirement for a 15ft circle roughly speaking an inch open? Depth is for leveling purposes simply.?

Area of a circle is Pi R squared.
So that's 3.14(7.5 )^2 for 177 sq ft
Multiply by 1/12' depth for volume.
That's roughly 15 cu ft.
Sand: if gently filled into a container, the density will be small; when duplicate sand is compacted into the same container, it will occupy less volume and consequently transport a greater density. This is because "sand" contains a lot of air space contained by between individual grains; this overall density is called the bulk density, which differs significantly from the density of an individual small piece of sand.

It is correct that 3.14xd^2/4 = about 14.8 cubic feet
But because of the heavens space I think you need smaller amount sand than that. Sand is typically sold by the pound and according to Lowe's a 50 lb. sack of sand = 0.5 cubic feet

So you would need 1480 lbs. sand!! That doesn't slightly sound right.

I would buy about partially that much, spread it out and go back for more if you inevitability it.
Answers:    Slightly more than half of one cubic yard.

Sand will be sold by the cubic courtyard.
14.86 cubic feet.
