This is a new installation on a older home. Walls are 2x4 construction. I plan on putting contained by the proper headers but dont' know how high to make the element. Thanks
Ideally, it should be installed as high as possible so that it draws in the hot nouns that accumulates near the ceiling. When planning the location remember that you will own to service the unit (remove, clean & replace filter, etc.) so put it within a place under which a ladder can efficiently be located (not above heavy furniture). way posterior ,,before they had remote controls,,ac be mounted bout 6 feet from floor to top of unit,,it s probably still a worthy installation height,,,or for looks mount the top of unit,, same rank as door or window casings,,,, which is usually 6' 8" to 6' 11 "
I would first select the unit. The control panel will serve you determine how high to locate the unit. Todays windowpane unit have enormously powerful fans to push cold air and suck contained by return air so you don't need to cogitate you have to put them up high contained by the wall.
Think about security. If you live within an area where your contemporary ac unit would be an invitation for a thief, I would put it up big in the wall, this also allows you to not worry give or take a few banging your head on it if you are outside doing garden or grass work around the unit.
Check the length of the cord on the unknown unit so you can plan for an outlet, and check the plug configuration so you can get the correct receptable configuration for this part.
If you install a header put the bottom of your header at a standard height which is 6'10+1/2" or 82-1/2" from the finished floor level.
If controls are mounted big on the front of the unit, then install it lower so controls are effortlessly read and used. Also allow about 1/2" extra when you measure the cabinet of the porthole unit on height and wideness. This will let you slide the cabinet housing into your new hole efficiently. You can then use 100% clear silicone to fill up any small gap around the outside of the cabinet.
Good Luck
as close to the ceiling as possible
Place it a 6' so the cold nouns is heavy and sinks to the floor and this gives the heavens a longer reach into the room. I don't think it matter. Motel rooms have it near the floor. As long as you use a ceiling admirer, height shouldn't matter.
Answers: Since cold air seeks lower spaces, I would mount the upper air conditioner closer to the ceiling where it would draw in the space heater air.
