I'm thinking of starting this as a new project tonight. Can someone permit me know?
Answers:    You never want to use old square material for lots of reason, the big reason is that it will more than plausible be very crooked.
Crooked wood = crooked walls = confidently cracking drywall = bad looking trim. (you don't want that more of a torment in the backside to fix than to spend the money and do it right the first time)

My advise to you is to find a rough drawing of your floor plans.
then rob them to a licensed architec, they are the ones who know building codes for your area and also know where on earth to place important stance locations in your hous if any are required out side the usual exterior walls.

Once you have a blue print rob them to your local lumber yard ( not Lowes or Home Depot, they may be cheaper but you will really wages for it in the characteristic of the material)

Or you can take your prints to a nonspecific contractor and get a bid from them. They can bid the house down to the second nail and they solely thing you will enjoy to do is pick out the details (windows, doors, flooring etc...)

Hope this helps
Blueprints & a upright contractor ( check them out) 1st..
