Answers: These colours don't sound right, standard UK phone cable consists of 3 twisted pairs of wires Blue & blue and white, Orange & ginger and white, Brown & brown and white, Green & green and white.
BT engineers will normally use the 2 blue cable as your phone line, within a BT master socket the incoming cable will connect to A and B with the 2 blues later any cable leaving the socket will connect to 2 and 5 again useing the 2 blues. If terminal A and B are not there after connect incoming and outgoing to 2 and 5
you can also connect what is called the planet recall customarily orange this connects to terminal 4 and allows you to transfere call to another number via the "recall" button. You do not need the top soil recall to gross the phone work it is optional
