Much of the vinyl on floors today is put down near a perimeter of paste. Most of the time this is an adhesive that dows not capture dry and/or brittle. To start, remove any 1/4 round molding. this should expose the edges of the vinyl. In a worst case, you may hold to remove the shoe molding also.
If these are in the kitchen, move adjectives major appliances to another room. Make sure to reconnect the fridge/freezer to power. It isn't obligatory to reconnect the stove. Now you can simply make some cuts near a vinyl knofe or a box knife
