The entrance of the kitchen has a wall that have a piece sticking out of it. I would like to remove it so that I can fit a brand new refrigerator. The width of this piece of wall is in the order of 6 inches. I don;t want to remove the whole wall a short time ago this piece that seems to stick out of the archway. How do I know if it is a supporting truss for the archway.
Go into the attic and see if the wood is related (below) the rafters or support joist. If not, should be o.k. Or to be on the safe side, ring your local Building Inspector and he will come out FOR FREE!!!! (as a consult)

Yea explicitly a tough one to answer with out seeing it some means of access.
Houses are built so different from area to nouns.
My suggestion would to find a local contractor (good one) and have him come by to confer you a free estimate.
He should be able to relate you if it can go or not and next you could do it yourself if do able.
Good Luck
Answers:    you will need someone that know what to look for to go into the attic and see if it is.
