Answers:    if its smaller than the size of a paint can lid, do this.
1. use a verbs lid to a paint can as a template and cut a piece of carpet that you will use as a replacement.
2. Take the paint can lid and nail/tack it over the spot , covering the hole on the floor.
3. use a utility run through with a sharp blade and cut around the lid to engender a perfect circle.
4.After you remove the hoary carpet spot, lay down double sided cartridge on the subfloor ,and on the back side of your trial carpet piece put a watered-down ribbon of seam cement.
5. Press the patch into place and put a book or something heavy over it overnight.
