A pan be left on the stove and it become over-heated and popped. Burned out the coil and the on/off control as well as indicator lighting. I ordered parts from GE and replaced all, the burner coil very soon works again, but the indicator light ,although replaced, will never shut bad..it is always ON even when the oven and scope is all OFF...Plus the on/off dial to the burner will not sit flush as they sent generic parts that are not exact. Time for a hot stove? This is at least 8 years infirm..

Answers:    It almost sounds like it may own been wired surrounded by wrong when replaced. Check your wiring connections. This reading light will only shine if it is receiving electricity through it, so it is any wired wrong or the switch is bad and is leak electricity.
