How many inches of cocoon insulation do I call for for my attic. I have 6 inches of fiberglass Batt insulation at my celing joice. Do I necessitate 12 more inches of cocoon blown in insulation to achieve the R-49 factor or do I need smaller amount since I have 6 inches of Batt from when the house be first built. How do I figure how frequent bales of Cocoon blown insulation I need for a 1300 square foot attic? Can anyone help me out?

Answers: Not exactly sure what cacoon insulation is, but you should be more than covered if you turn with R-42. When ever you find to the R values that are more than 38, the return diminishes down to almost nothing. This finances that R-40 is virtually the same as R-100. I'm a fresh homebuilder in Minnesota and I put surrounded by 24" of blown in insulation. I grasp around R-38 to 40. The money saved here can go to more momentous energy money like window and sealants. It is critical to get every vent from the ceiling to the attic space sealed up. That's where on earth the heat is lost, small penetrations contained by the "lid".
