We have three wires coming out of the ceiling...red, white and black. We enjoy the remote unit beside two wires black and whire a/c coming out of one side and the other side of the remote we have black, white and blue coming out of the remote. We hold a dimmer switch on the wall. We have tried getting the disciple to work for hours and can not get it. The instructions do not mention the red flex that is coming out fo the ceiling.
red and white are hot wires. black is ground. you should have a switch on the ceiling aficionado for night and one for adherent. make sure they are both on and try connecting both red lead and white wire together to power and black to ground by itself. the basic power will be controlled by the dimmer switch and controlling whether the light is on and not the enthusiast or vise versa will be controlled on the ceiling fan itself
Forget adjectives above answers and use this:
The red in ceiling box be originally used for a fan frothy from probably your dimmer. Do not use this wire. The black be used for the fan from another switch.
Connect the remote controller wires as follows.
Black from ceiling box to black (ac) power flex on remote.
White from ceiling box to white (ac) power wire on remote.
The black, white and blue from controller turn to the black, white and blue to fan. Your remote should hold a dimming effect for lights built in.
If you have no switch on wall for black wire surrounded by ceiling box, then it be hot all the time and still use it.
Remember do not use red lead with dimmer switch at adjectives.
Good luck
Answers: Here is how it is commonly wired.
Black is constant power
Red is controlled by a switch
White is independent
Do you have a voltage tester to brand sure that the black is a constant hot? If not take the plate bad the wall switch and look to see what color of wires are on it. If you see a black and a red most likely the black within the ceiling box is a constant hot(not controlled by the switch)
The side of the remote with only the black and white ..hook up to the black and white wires in your ceiling box. Cap the red chain.
Chris R no disrespect intended but...are you an electrician?
The BLACK WIRE IS NEVER GROUND that is open to the elements copper in most houses or green
The remote wires beside black white and blue.
.Black to black on the ceiling fan
White to white
blue to the insubstantial (if you have a oil lamp on the fan) wire.
That should do it for you, if you own any other questions on it email me.
