My family will be moving into our first house soon and it is pretty small and dull. I want some DIY ideas that I can use to dress up my home. I don't have deeply of extra money I am looking for things I may be able to use around the house or that would be extremely cheap to buy. Any oblige will be appreciated!!
Answers: An easy piece to do that won't break the bank is to paint. It's a great style to bring colors into any room. Also, you can use a little imagination to do more than freshly paint the walls a color.
Here's an example. My wife and I were looking to do something fun near our playroom and thought we would try to copy some of the things we saw on Trading Spaces. We bought four complimentary colors of basic wall paint. First we painted the walls the most dull of the colors. We then chose the largest wall and painted overlapping abstract shapes on that wall. We in recent times freehanded the curved shapes and then used cassette to make straight lines.
We also have a dresser that was moved out over form our college days that we painted white and then use one and the same wall colors to highlight different drawers.
For the walls, we bought a couple of blank picture canvases at a craft store and painted a geometric design on them to spawn a large sculpture. Also, I wanted to incorporate something that the kids did so I bought some tissue paper within about equal colors as wall paints and a few picture frames. I then have my girls tear, cut or rip shapes out of the newspaper that we applied to cardboard with Elmer's paste. Popped them in the frame when they be dry and hung them on the wall.
Also, yard sale and flea markets are a great place to look for decorate things.
