need help next to painting: i removed all paint from the wall, but surrounded by some places parts of dry-wall paper also came bad. i want smooth wall finish and ready to put money into it to make it look honest / do quick job. wall is ~16x8.
my request for information: is this step order correct? or something can be changed?
1. mud (or mut?) entire wall (because of sheetrock paper is torn surrounded by many places)
2. sand
3. mud again if needed
4. put Prep-Coat
5. mud again
6. primer (grey - i want smooth red wall)
7. paint (until red is good color)

can i put Prep-coat directly printed and then mud wall into perfrection or is mudding first is a must?

are there sudden ways of applying mud? - 12x6 wall mudding will take hours.
Yes. Sound right to me.

if the wall is that messed up later yes u have to "float" the wall, put mud on all of it..dont sand to wide.ur prep coat i'm not sure what ur asking but we do it this way:

mud
light sand
mud again
sand
primer paint( tent paint to lighter color of wall)
point up-( check and fix any spots u missed)
paint

Answers:    You could also consider texturing the wall to help squirrel away the flaws. I had a new home that come with textured walls and loved it because there be no problem with keeping it looking good. Just a thought...
