I am purchasing an older house beside a full (but very outdated!) hip bath in underground room. We will be renovating the basement (new drywall/floorplan and carpeting, etc) but I would resembling to renovate the existing full bath to be a 3/4 hip bath to maximize space for use as living space. In other words, the existing full bath is really moderately large, I would approaching to "steal" space from it for the basement living nouns while converting it to a shower/toilet/sink bathroom. I assume this is fairly uncomplicated conversion, given all the plumbing is surrounded by place.
My question is, does this shrink the home's value because i'll be switching from a full hip bath to 3/4 bath.or should I simply suck it up, keep it as a full hip bath ?
The increase contained by value surrounded by doing over the basement will far exceed the minimum merit loss you'd have contained by going from full to 3/4. I'd definitely join the space to the main nouns of the basement, as it's a certain improvement and will greatly affix to the overall value of the home.

There is with the sole purpose a full bath or 1/2 hip bath, no 3/4. Shower or tub or tub/shower; either course they all sort a full bathroom.

Having an extra full bath contained by the basement is other a great selling feature!
A shower requires a 2 inch drain next to a 2 " p-trap under the floor. A tub requires a 1-1/2 p-trap.
Answers: You will do way better beside with a modernized 3/4 tub. go for it.
