Electrical electrical system for installing a stove? Hello, Can anyone please help me I hold a new electrical stove and it...
Hello,
Can anyone please help me
I hold a new electrical stove and it have 4 wire connections, they are:
Green
Black
Brown and
Red
NOW my electrical cable coming out from the wall are
Green, White, Blue, and Red
Well today I tried to install it, so I switched of the main and took bad all the fuses out of the electrical box and made sure that no live electricity.
Attempt 1:
Green to Green
Red to Red
White to Brown
Blue to Black
Result: Both fuses (there are two fuses for the stove contained by the electrical box) tripped/blew.
Attempt 2
Green to Green
Red to Red
White to Black
Blue to Brown
Result (hot plates were working but the other fuse for the tripped/blew)
So I am going to try yet again, hopefully tomorrow, this time
Red to Brown
White to Red
Blue to Black
Green to Green
but before I do it can someone out in attendance please help me if you know what i am doing is right.
Many gratitude
Answers: I am a licensed Australian Electrician (living in Thailand).
Firstly, are you aware specifically illegal for you to do this work within NSW? You should get a licensed electrician to do this.
Secondly, the line colours of the wires coming out of your wall are as follows;
Green - earth.
Red - A phase.
White - B phase.
Blue - C phase.
The line colours for your stove mean nought unless the manufacturer have supplied a diagram. Also, an electrician with an ounce of adjectives sense will not need a diagram - by inspecting the stove, he will know how to determine what wire go where.
The other problem is voltage. The wires coming from your wall indicate that you enjoy a 3 phase supply. The voltage between each phase will be 415 volts whereas the voltage between any phase & earth/neutral will be 240 volts. Is your stove 240 volt or 415 volts? If it is 240 volts, a indeterminate conductor will need to be added, which can lone be done by a licensed electrician.
Do not attempt to do any further work on this device unless you are very familiarized with what I'm conversation about. Get an electrician.
Darn! I be going to answer, but in the US one of your attempts should enjoy been correct. If you own an electrical tester, test your wall wires for power legs and stove wires for continuity/open.
