I am trying to put up curtain poles in bedroom, and a blind within the bathroom.
I have tried to drill a hole within the wall with a masonary drill bit, but it simply goes contained by about 1/2 inch. The walls are brick, and above the pane I beleive there is a strenthener.
I would love to be capable of do this, as I have newly moved into my own house, and always have a ex to do the DIY jobs. Want to do them myself, hold all the rawplugs, so how do I procure a deeper whole.
seems a bit strange that you can one and only drill to a depth of 1/2 an inch.are you hitting the strengthener as you call it? if its a concrete lintel you should still be capable of drill into it although i wouldn't advise it.move up or down a touch to avoid it and drill into the brick

Drilling holes is with the sole purpose one way to fix things on walls.
You can very soon get a bonding agent called NO NAILS.
This is something I enjoy used with much nouns.
Buy the proper stuff, not cheap from a pound shop.
Glue a baton to the wall, and fix the pole to that.
The stick can be a lenghth of skirting board
Answers:    My first cross-question is rather an patent one so my apologies in credit, are you using a 'hammer drill?', because this is what you need.

You are right going on for the 'strengthener', above each door and pane there is a concrete lintel (it's terrifically unlike;y to be steel over a window), which has one and the same dimensions (except it's length) as a brick, so if you are having troubles drilling into a concrete lintel, a moment ago try going up the thickness of a brick, 4 inches.
