We're trying to fix it, it's blowing out nasty, stinky nouns and my grandpa says he can fix it, he only just needs to know the schematics. All I can speak about you is it's old, indoors within it's own closet in the center of the house, big, and I'm pretty solid it runs on gas. Oh and the home is like 30++ years infirm. I can't find the model number (UM30-1) anywhere on the internet so I wonder if he gave it to me right, but it definetly is an American Standard.
By the instrument: I did try their website and I couldn't find anything, so I did email them. I am currently waiting on their response, but I wanted to post this grill up here, too.
Answers: dont bother looking for a diagram, you wont find one for a unit that behind the times. the diagram is usually on the door or the inner panel on those old job. regardless, keep grandpa away from the furnace and especially away from the electric wiring. i dont know why he thinks the electrical system is causing the smell, but its not. If the part has be off for awhile and ur simply starting it up thats a normal smell even on newer unit that have be down. its just the dust and dirt inside on the boil exchanger burning off. expand the windows and consent to the unit run for awhile and it will progress away. it this is a new smell on a component that has be running you should really get it checked for carbon monoxide ooze, especially on a unit to be precise 30+ years old. If your getting CO into the house it can slay people. if it checks out and no CO is present it could be something unmoving in the ducts, similar to an animal or something. 30 years of dust and dirt in a duct system can donate up also and a good duct cleaning might do the trick. also presume about gettin a newer more efficiant component. i'd hate to see your gas bill running a 30 year prehistoric unit. obedient luck and stay away from that wiring!!!
If it`s blowing out nouns , and heat but merely smells nasty that could be because it have not been used contained by a long time. If grampa needs a electric wiring scematic to fix a nasty smell you may want grampa out of near before he cause more damage. Trust me , near is nothing surrounded by the wiring that can produce a bad smell. Those elder uprite furnaces were used greatly in trailers and homes lacking basements. My uncle still has 1 surrounded by his house , and yes it can have a ruthless smell when it first fires up. Let it run for a while , or better yet enjoy a pro come out and clean it. Btw a electrics schematic is usually on the removable panel of the furnace and they don`t fall sour.
