I bought my house about a year ago. It is a split even built in 1964. Currently within is a half tub on the bottom level which sits on a concrete slab. I want to expand this to a full tub, which will require digging up the concrete and moving floor drains around. All of the supply lines are copper as are all of the noticeable drain lines (this includes the main vent stack the toilet/tub/sink drain pipes from the upstairs, and adjectives the drains going down into the concrete). I am guessing that the pipe underneath the slab is also copper but I am not sure. Would they have run the copper drain out adjectives the way to the street or would they hold fitted it into cast iron or something similar. If they do switch materials at what point would they own done this.
Copper is FAR to expensive to hold been used adjectives the way out to the street. The city sewer file is cast iron, and usually the strip from the house to the street is, also.

I would be really surprised to see that the drain lines are copper, I've seen one and only cast iron and plastic (PVC) for drain lines, because they are so far-reaching. (Copper for fresh water contained by, because it's under more pressure).
The only track is to look.
Old Building permits would you what they be sceduled to be but??????
Call city hall.
Answers:    why does everyone doubt what he is saying, All of my debris pipe is solid copper, it was used contained by alot of homes in the Midwest years ago, used for reason of expansion of metal in bag of hard freezes, if yours is similar to mine, the copper is run under the concrete floor into pattern clay pipe ( don't know why anyone would call this ceramic) the trasition would be made usually by fitting the pipe together at a crossroads and either hermetically sealed with oakum or may be hermetic with head
Sue is obvously too young at heart to have see copper drainage, it was cheap once upon a time, they are still within place in Maldon Essex, (I am surprised the crumb metal thieves haven't be at it) it may go to the clay pipes that are within the nearest manhole.
