I'm installing a "Direct through wall" bathroom fan within my 2nd floor bathroom.. It is impossible to hook this fan up to any existing electric outlet/switch. The supporter comes with its own on/off switch to manually operate.
To run the cable, I was planning on buying a roll of 250' 14/2 UFB cable. I can run it from my panel in the underground room, through the outside wall and neatly tuck contained by underneath the vinel siding all the mode up to the fan which is give or take a few 20ft above the ground on the 2nd floor of the house.
My buddy thinks that tucking it underneath the vinel siding isn't "Code" and suggests I should use PVC conduit.. I newly don't want to have to see the misshapen conduit running up the side of my house, when tucking the UF wire lower than the vinel siding would be easier and neater.. That's how I ran adjectives my cable lines.?...
Answers:    None of these people are electricians.UF chain is the correct wire for what you are trying to do.The likelihood of driving a nail or some piece else through this wire are nominal.Although I would try to avoid running the wire below the siding if possible and conduit would protect it better I don't see why it would be a code infringement. If the wire be damaged it is smoothly access able to replace it.I own ran rope up the corner piece of the siding and then run out a couple of feet to where on earth I needed to go contained by the house. If you are going to have this inspected a short time ago call the inspector beforehand hand and ask if he will go past the installation.
Could you use the existing conduit to add another circuit contained by the area of your trial fan? Run the circuit throught the attic? Romex, or UF can not be installed contained by conduit, but may be surface run in exposed areas, if protected from physical despoil.
