Answers: It is not difficult to DIY. To locate the cold pipe for your river (new washers don't use hot water feed), of late run the taps and touch the pipes. Go to B&Q or your local ScrewFix supplier and get hold of a self-cutting tap (Screwfix 13768-90 @lb4.99) and clamp it to the cold pipe, making sure you tighten it in good health. Also, get a Drain-out tackle (Screwfix 11879-90 @lb4.49) and do likewise to the outlet pipe. Fix your washer's pipes suitably.
BTW, Screwfix are also available online at www.screwfix.com
