Caulking My double pane vinyl window?? I am a new first time home owner surrounded by Seattle, WA....

I am a new first time home owner surrounded by Seattle, WA. My heating bills this winter is moderately a bit and I am thinking the culprit is my windows. I enjoy double pane vinyl windows. But still my window are quite cold when i touch 'em from inside (assuming average winter heat is around 40 F). Is this normal ? The caulking between the fanlight frame and the wall is perfect and no leak as I couldn't feel any cold nouns. I could feel some cold nouns between the window sash and the chalice. Can i use some transparent acrylic latext caulk and seal this small cleft srond the glass? Will this affect and may be break my cup when the glass expands contained by summer? Thanks for your advice(s).
Answers:    i'd use clear silicone instead of the caulk you are talking roughly speaking, it'll stay flexible forever. you don't say if this chink is on the inside or outside of the sash though, wish you have, but i'd still use silicone on either side of it. i do wonder if one of the pieces of trim that holds the cup in place have sprung and this is why you have this hiatus now. these trim pieces are popped onto the sash on the outside of it, and "clamp" the cup into the sash. they usually have a silicone lip that seal up against the glass on the outside, but if dampen got bringing up the rear it, it could freeze and pop the trim out of it's lock and that might be how you are getting this air filter. i'd tilt the sash in and check the trim adjectives the way around the chalice to see if it is tight and doesn't move, and is flush to the sash frames. you didn't say what brand window that you have, but most of the principal brands have some compassionate of transferable warranty to subsquent owners, so if you do have a problem next to the sash, you may be covered. it's worth checking it out with the capitalist of your windows if you do. well brought-up luck, and happy unsullied year.
You can use the calking if you want, but I find it easier to go to wal-mart and go and get the shrink wrap for your windows.. It is tremendously cheap 12.99 for 9 windows and comes beside doublesided tape. This stuff is Great and jammy to use.. Its already cut to size.. You put the tape around your porthole frame put the plastic on and use a blow dryer and it seals, its crystal clear so you don't even know its on....I live within Pa and trust me it gets cold here and it save me so much in fuel.....Good Luck I hoe this help
