I run a dog and cat rescue. I've tried searching the web and home improvement stores for blueprints to manufacture cat trees (cat furniture) without much luck. With the rescue's restricted $$$ I'd rather build than buy. Any suggestions?

They're outstandingly simple to make but you don't want blue prints, your not building a house, they are call plans or mechanical drawings. Go to a pet store and see what they enjoy then budge to the hardware store and buy the pieces you'll need. You can ask the being at the hardware store for any suggestions and I am sure they will be helpful. Good luck

Answers:    I'm commonly called on to BUILD Cat and Dog "furniture" and as one answer states "blueprints" are unlikely.

Budget concerns don't event to your animals,,, no offense, BUT I have some suggestions. Solicit donations possibly, just as any Humane Society does, and create a roll, perhaps even using some of my suggestions below.

Scavanged BERK (sp) tubes, Sauna tubes, covered within scavanged carpet, or sisal rope, simple platforms covered within scavanged carpet, Recyle tubs or Tubs dropped stale at a Goodwill store, flipped upside down, with an entry opening at one end.

Simple stair cases, or something that equates, keeping surrounded by mind the cats wanna be as high as they can be, while sentiment secure. Salvaged Milk crates,,, New or ripened, decent plastic trash can can become small caves, when laid on their side. Even larger sauna tubes can be places to explore, laid on their side. Any number of scavanged wearing clothes TOYS, can become the property of any animal.

Both Cats and Dogs, enjoy a comfortable, even OLD, upholstered stool. Old sofa pillows become Beds, Blankets as well.

ADDED thought: 15 years ago I salvaged an ripened wooden coat tree, which was midified into a cat tree, which is still within use by 7 cats all elderly.
