How do i discourage them from going into wood gaps within my bird house.

and

do they cause interfere with to the wood..
Carpenter bees cause like mad of damage to soft woods. I hold a tractor shed built of red cedar and the bees have holes adjectives over it. Then the large Pilated woodpeckers munch through away the wood to get to the babe-in-arms bees inside. My shed has to be repaired from time to time. However, bees pollinate and the woodpeckers are lovely so I just save repairing. Don't have a solution for you. Sorry.

Carpenter bees bore holes into wood
overhangs, blockade posts, and trees. They will crawl
between cracks of siding and roofing. When they
bore in wood, the hole they drill is around 1/2". This
hole will go straight an inch or two and consequently turn 90
degrees. This different portion of the nest becomes an
egg chamber. Eggs are laid at the shutting of these
chambers. Food is placed alongside the egg
and consequently sealed tight. It is adjectives for an egg
chamber to be two or more feet long. It may own
numerous egg chambers branching out from the
foremost chamber.
Answers:    Carpenter bees caused mass disfavour to our old log lodge, in the areas where on earth the wood was untreated, it concluded up looking like swiss cheese.
The single way to go and get rid of them once they root, is to chase away the bee, and fill the hole beside candle wax. See, they drill the hole, first straight and then on a slant to put their larva within, and then, bring backbone food, fill the hole almost adjectives the way up near food, and seal it sour. There is a powder you can use, you have to put it surrounded by with a straw, and agree to the bee keep wadding the hole. In the spring, when the larva should emerge it won't, because the powder kills it. If you trademark it off too soon the bee will basically start another hole to lay the larva.
So, I would fill any and adjectives holes with candle wax. Birthday candles, the long skinny ones work best. Light it, defrost it a little bit, and drizzle it into the holes or crannies. You are lucky it is a bird house, because it is easier to move around, than the trimming of a house. On our trimming, we lit it, blew it out and stuck it surrounded by as far as possible, trimmed off adjectives but 1/4 inch end, and relit the wick to product it seal up. Good luck.
