my husband got this nice grill/smoker final summer, the cover got ripped to shreds during a storm and we be unable to find another within the fall/winter season... so can i clean up the rust and repaint (what sort of paint) the outside of the grill or should we just buy another next to an extra cover
Navel jelly is for cleaning aluminum. Yes, you can wire brush past its sell-by date any rust and use a high-temp paint. You can find it at Lowes, HD and most hardware stores.

Cant' you use the same paint to be exact recommended to paint barbecues?
It comes within a spray can and you heat up the
barbecue first. Of course, contained by your case verbs the rust etc off first. You may not own an option of colours. Black is possibly your lone choice.
Answers:    Take some steel wool and clean up adjectives the rust until you see the underlying steel. Now - again with the steel wool, rough up the overall entire surface. Forget stripping the feeble paint off - only rough up the surface well. Check out a Lowes, Home Depot, ACE Hardware - and you can in fact buy high warmth spray enamel paint for grills!

Now I am going to give you a trick that professionals use to produce it look like a show room finish.

Spray on the first coat - not to wishy-washy but not to heavy any. Let it set up just a couple of minutes - until the paint is gummy (sticky). Now spray on a normal coat of paint - over the sticky coat. It will look close to a showroom or baked on finish.
Good Luck!
