I want my artexted ceiling plastered over but i've been told near will be too much weight on the plaster boards, any other planning thank you.
Answers: You can warm it up next to a hot gun and scrape it rotten with a scraper.
The stuff is vile, it should be disqualified. The problem is that the nasty stuff be often used to cover up a mess, cracks etc because it is flexible. If that's the covering and you get rid it and re-skim, your plaster will after that crack.
The best solution is new plaster boards beside proper taped joint, this could be nailed up beneath the existing without mess. Plaster board is relatively cheap.
