Answers:    encountered a similar situation, and found muriatic sour to work quite economically. HOWEVER....... make sure vent van is on, fanlight open, something to bring air contained by and out of there ( fan). WEAR GLOVES, LONG GLOVES . If this is surrounded by a shower cover your drain no matter what you be in motion with. Grouts and adhesive that are removed with any considerate of method will wind up within the drain and as water pass through they will re harden and clog the drain
