bringing kitchen up to code, outlet near sink requests GFCI protection, but circuit is a single 14/3 wire. can i use the 14/3 chain on a gfci or can i only use a 14/2 chain?
Answers: I'm a building inspector in the state of Wisconsin and you requirement to use #12 wire for outlets surrounded by kitchens. check local code this is a code from the NEC. Be safe
No it can't be a split. You can use the 2nd hot rope to run down to the disposal or dish washer. Neither needs to be GFCI protected. Or you could use it to power undercabinet lights.
